does anyone know what all it takes to upgrade an older sportsman to the new ebs. is it just the clutches or does the transmission have to be changed to? i know someone has done the upgrade. let me know.. friends.

 

there is an ebs kit available all you have to get are the clutches and the belt, i would try to get the clutches for an 800 they have a nicer ebs setup, and they are a lot smoother than the old style ebs.

 

no tranny as he mentioned just the clutches and belt. try looking on ebay or sometimes people like to swap there ebs out for a non ebs set up so keep your eyes open.

 

Not sure if the belt matters, I have a belt Parts # 3211069 and I have EBS and there's nothing special about that belt,looks just like a snowmobile belt. Looks like the same belt on our 97 500 sportsman with no EBS.

EBS is just a driven clutch with a one way bearing. Here is a video on it.
