Default Fuel economy

With the ever increasing fuel prices here in the UK, fuel economy played a major part when I was researching what new quad to buy recently.

A number in the high thirties was mentioned for the 500 ho sportsman against seventeen miles per gallon for a 500 Honda.

I ended up with the sportsman but it's not returning anything like thirty miles to the gallon. A gallon (4.5ltr) of fuel here is £5.40!!!

Does anyone else monitor theit economy???

Would be interested to see what you get. Sure it will depend what you are doing with the quad but I'm talking about average trail riding and no hauling.

Thanks guys

James

well i havent hand figured it but i have 6 bars on my gauge and after a 47.6 mile ride
i only used 1 bar. it took about 1.4 gallons to refill the tank to where it was when we started.
this was on my EFI 700 also

My quad recently got 24 mpg with the 500 efi. We were riding on a railtrail (converted old train railbed) where we were going a pretty constant 30 mph. My son's CanAm Renegade got 32 mpg and it isn't even broken in yet.

According to this thread, I'm getting pretty lousy mileage out of my 210 550 EPS. I just bought it and used nearly a full tank (5 of 6 bars) for it's first 60 miles in the last 2 days. I didn't run it especially hard and only buried it in the mud, once.

My 500 EFI gets about 80 miles to the tank (4.25 Gallon)with roughly a Gal./Gal. and a half to spare while trail riding and an occasional mudhole. Rarely over 30 mph.

You should get better mpg's after the engine is good and broke in. And I never trust the gas guage. Mine says I'm at half tank when I've only burned about a gallon.

it all depends on how you ride and what trails your riding on for the most part in the gas milage.

So I've just been to fill the quad and it took 11ltrs (2.4 g) to fill it back to the cap.

The trip is showing 33 miles which works out at around 14 mpg

The guage was showing on the last segment (1/6th).

Hopefully this will improve as the engine wears in. I did spend one night hauling soil around my yard in a small trailer. As has been said it depends what you are doing.

Thanks for the replies
