Default 2008 Sportsman Wheels on a 2001 Sportsman

OK, so I have a 2001 or 2002 Sportsman 500. I'm not sure exactly what year because I'm not sure how to read...the sticker. Says 11/2001. If it's like cars, then that means it's a 2002, but not sure if ATV's read like that. ANYWAY...

I also have a 2008 Sportsman 800 which I'm getting new wheels and tires for soon. I'd like to put my 2008 wheels on my 2001.

Easy enough, right? Just bolt them on. BUT the hubs are different on the pre 2004.5 Sportsman's. So what are my options? I know I could buy spacers. That would hopefully space the wheel out past the extended hub. Can I "upgrade" to the newer style hub? Is that even possible?

If anyone has any good ideas or info, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks,
Ryan

I think what your saying is the front hub on your 02 500 would hit the center cap on the 800 wheels, right?

Right, As best I can tell, the center cap would have to be removed. And it almost appears that the center hole of the 08 is not large enough for the 01 hub to fit. Now that I think about it, I will go see what happens if I remove the center caps, because it hadn't occured to me to try that, yet.

However, If it's possible to swap the hub all together, I'd be interested in that as well...then the wheels won't look funny, lol!

Thanks,
Ryan
