Unhappy clutch issue or my kit??

Went for the first ride with my 27" mudlites , I've had a clutch kit in for over a year now b4 I got the tires. When riding and I hit the throttle hard at take off in high it seems like the engine is wound up more than I am moving. Took the clutch cover off and inspected everything checked clearances on the buttons and were good. So do you all think i need a different clutch kit. As far as the one I have goes, all I can tell ya is it's an epi for oversized tires. My belt looks fairly good too. I cleaned her up and blew all the rubber dust out and still have the same ferformance or lack there of if ya will. Any idea's or input??

Sounds like you may have preloaded your secondary backwards

It's an 07 500 efi sportsman. Can preloading the secondary happen when you put a new belt on w/o opening the sheaves like you're suppose too. When in hurry or wifes naggin about too much time in garage I have just rolled on in counter clockwise direction.

if its an ebs secondary you don't have to preload the secondary spring, sounds like you have a heavier primary spring, if i'm understanding you right, when you go to take off it takes higher rpm, does your rpm level back out when your moving or is it high all the time

Sounds like you could be slipping the belt. You said you had the kit in for a year, is it set up for the stock tires or oversized tires. If it is for the stock tires you might want to adjust accordingly for the bigger tires. It could also be your belt being stretched to long also and the bigger tires will magnify the problem. Also when you cleaned you clutches were they shiny where the belt rides up and down. If so you can take a light sand paper or emery cloth and lightly sand the clutch faces, blow them out and clean with a brake cleaner. This will take off any belt glazing buildup and allow everything to grip better.

Yes Chad it was shiny and will use some emery cloth. The dealer put the kit and told me it was good for stock and oversized tires. I wanted more bottom to mid range, this is what he put in and like I said he told me it was good for larger tires too. When stock the tires were 26" pxt's. I only went up one size to 27's but the fronts are 10's. This is part of the reason I went with mudlites being that they're lightest tire. Front 27x10x12 Rear 27x12x12.

bh 10's are stock weights, white primary is a stiffer spring, check your front motor mount to see if it broke.
