Default Hawkeye problems

I bought my Hawkeye new in 2007. The bike has <90 hours and <800 miles. It is mostly used to ride the grandkids around the property. At 65 hours the bike developed a clattering noise which seems to come from the cover at my left ankle. It was most noticable when I revved it in neutral. I took it to the dealer where I pruchased it. They fixed it, saying that they had replaced a bearing. For about 10 hours it was fine, but the clattering slowly started again, getting louder and louder. I can actually feel the clattering if I put my ankle against the cover. The dealer says to just drive it and not worry. Right. He dismisses the bike as a little scooter, saying that I shouldn't expect it to run like "the big boys". The bike is used for hunting, and it's never let me down. I've pulled several "big boys" out of the mud with my little scooter. I'd prefer not to seriously damage it by riding it while it's broken. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? All help is appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

It is the bearing in the clutch cover again. They put Chinese bearings in them at the factory. The bearing is a common bearing size (I do not remember the bearing number) and a good one can be bought for just a few dollars.

I replaced mine for the same reason (rattling sound), but I used a good bearing.

I love my hawk.

Ditto on the offshore bearing and can your dealer. My 06 Hawk was a great bike and would go anywhere its big brothers would. Good enough to handle tracks in wet heavy snow (17 hp). Show the jerk this pic.

I found the bearing #. It is a 6203DD bearing. They are 6203 size and are sealed. If I remember correctly there is a snap ring holding the bearing in the cover. It was not a difficult fix.

Default 2008 sportsman 400,rattling noise

my sp 400 does the same thing, mine has over 2,000 miles, my dealer said it was the starter clutch, and he showed me a picture of it, he said that polaris had sent them a bulletin on the noise the first time he had a customer complain about it,polaris says the noise is normal,it also said the bearing in the cvt cover could be fixed by using loctite to hold the bearing in place,in the cover that is, it moves on the shaft, that's what is making the noise, but polaris wont pay to have it fixed. i was wondering if the same bearing that works in the hawkeye would work in my sp 400,he said some are worst than others, the mechanic told me it was hard to do,does anybody know for sure, this noise drives me crazy,i would love to get it fixed,i love the 4-wheeler,any input would be greatly be appreciated.

you just recommend changing the bearing,do you think it would help to use loctite, and what brand of bearing did you use,and where did you get yours, how long has the new one lasted opposed to the original, hey thanks,,,,.

I just did an eBay search for the named bearing and came up with prices from $8 to $300! Do all 6203DD bearings work in this application? Where's a good place to order one? If I remember correctly, my dealer charged me like $150 to change the bearing, and it lists for $7 on their web site. He'll never see my face again.

you can get a 62032RS bearing also. Just make sure it is a 6203 size and has seals on both ends. All you have to do is remove the left rear tire and the footrest, loosen the plastic in 2 or 3 places up near the airbox and remove the clutch cover.

Remove the snap ring, pull out the old bearing (I used a puller), but it probably wasn't necessary.

Put in the new bearing... reassemble.

I did not use Locktite, but mine has lasted about 3 years now.
