Riding packout list
As the guy who is just getting into riding, what do you all consider essential to ride with when away from the beaten path? This of course is besides required safety gear. For instance here's a couple that comes to mind:
-Basic tool kit
-Tire repair kit
-Towing strap
I've also heard that some folks like to ride with a new set of plugs/wrench and replacment belt. What else do you life long quaders like to have with you when you hit the trails?

There are a few other threads on this also if you want to check them out.
I used to carry everything I could think of. Then I found out that everyone else does too and everyone likes to utilize their stuff whether they need it themselves or someone else needs it. So I figure why would everyone carry all this, essentially, the same stuff. So, usually I just bring something to eat/drink, tow strap, and my camera.
I would add.....
Knife
source of fire
extra rope
belt
quality tools
vice grips
plastic bags (ziploc)
towels (plenty)
wet wipes (goggles, etc..)
extra gloves
socks
rain suit
The list could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. It really depends on who I'm riding with and where we are going.

matches and a reliable lighter
winch if you have a heavy quad with strap and tree strap and ****** block
TP
pruning saw or folding bow saw
your daily medications for 1 day just in case
peanut M&Ms or something that gives quick and lasting energy
water or beverage -avoid caffeine for survival, you pee it out quickly
contractor grade trash bags -shelter, raincoat, trail trash
Maglight or good quality LED light
area maps and compass
One of the reasons I like the Polaris is the front box that either comes with the quad or you can get as an accessory. I just leave most of this list in it and forget about it until I need it. Nice having tons of under rack storage.

I seen some riders carry on of those suction water pumps that can in a pinch get your rad clean. You just pull it back under water and it sucks the water into the chamber ...Then you squeeze back together to spray out your rad,..
I don't know how many of you ever had your "HOT" light come on in the middle of nowhere.......I did...........Caper........
