1992 polaris 350 motor getting hot
#1
Hi everyone,
I just bought a 1992 Polaris 350 ATV used. The motor is getting hot and turning off. Does this model have a cooling thermostat? Are these ATVs known to have water pump problems? The electric cooling fan is working.

i take it the temp.light is working and coming on??
these models do not have a thermostat and usually don't have much trouble with the water pumps.
you may want to hose the radiator out , and by that i mean to clean all the radiator fins out and make sure it is full of coolant.
if it truly shuts off or dies when it gets hot, you may have some internal damage(blown head gasket or damaged piston)

Also, If it was run low on antifreeze you may have to "burp" it. There is a bleeder valve on the top of the head rear of the spark plug. Loosten it until you get antifreeze. Also, check your overflow tube going down to the overflow tank. If there is a leak in that anywhere you will have problems. Good luck.
