Unless you hit every hole WFO you can get away with 2 inches but plan on upgrading axles at some point. My opinion is going bigger and opting to spend the $ on axles/complete kit. Save you a lot of pain and suffering in the long run if you spend most of your time in the deep mud. Otherwise invest in a good winch, snatchblock, and straps. Kind of regretting the lift/tires on mine only because I rarely get to ride with anyone that has the extensive mods I do so my rides mostly consist of either pulling others out all day or riding trails they don't get stuck in as much which means I'm in 2wd all day. One of the reasons I'm selling it to buy a RZR and pick up a stock 800 for playing.

I ran an xtreme product lift on my 700. its called a 2" lift but you realy only get about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 of lift. never had any problems with the cv joints or breaking axles. Had 5000 + miles on it when i sold. My freind is still running his with the same lift with no problems.
When i can aford it i'll buy one for my 850. It seem way more stable hills side also.
Just my 2 cents. I don't think you'd regert it.
