I have a 2000 SC400 4x4 w/hpd pipe and clutch
I live in NJ at about 300' above sea level. I'm running a 260 main I also changed the pilot and shimmed the needle. My problem is the bike won't hold a steady speed lower than full and it won't hit into powerband easily. It seems like it's getting too much fuel at speeds lower than wide open. It also hesitates off the line a bit.Does anyone live around this area and if so how do you have your carb jetted so maybe I can try to get it dialed in.
thanks for the help.

You might be a little fat look at your plug if it is black drop your jet to a 250.
where is your needle set at i think the normal setting is third from the bottom.

Howdie,

Drop in the 270 main and begin from here.

I dont know what you mean by "shimed the needle", but if you have moved the e-clip, put it back in the center of the needle. (what exactly did you do?)

What did you change the pilot to?

Did you get a clutch kit to go w/ the pipe? Your factory clutch setup is not going to handle the new found power of the HPD pipe very well.

Keep us posted,

EC

Sorry, I did'nt pay attention to the fact that you already had a clutch kit.

Let us know exactly what you've done to the carb.

By shimming the needle It richens it a half clip. I took the shim out and it runs great. Thanks for the help.
