Default Need Transmission Help - 2008 Sportsman 800

I would really appreciate any input on someone who rebuilds or sells transmissions. My case got a hole bored in it from the rolled pin that holds the driveshaft on, the the fluid all leaked out, and water came in...now I have a lot of rusty parts and a case with a hole in it. My dealer said it s not covered under waranty, although I think it should be, the rolled pin should be a bolt and nut, so it would not come out in normal use.

Since I am stuck here and would rather not pay $1,400 for a new tranny, I have searched ebay. It appears that the part number for mine is #1332607, which is different than the 2006 and 2007 Sportsman 800's. Are these parts interchangeable? I have seen several of those for sale on ebay, but no 2008's. I think 2009 is the same number as mine, but they all look the same.

Thanks for any input!

the 08' is the HO (high output) version vs. the 06-07' model. though i'm suprised they are not the same. the gear case is the same for 05 to 08' according to polaris. it also says the main gear case form 08 to 10 is the same. just guessing, but i would bet the older 06-07 would bolt up.

Man thats a bummer. I am not sure about the different year trannys but I had the same thing happen to my 03 700. Luckly I caught it before any water got into the transmission. I just cleaned it up with brake clean real well and put some JB weld in the hole and replaced the roll pin with a new one and tack welded it in on one side that way I could just hit it with a grinder if I needed to remove it.
Could you just rebuild the trans, replace the bearings and chain if it needs it?

Thanks for the input, I would really like to be sure the others would bolt right up and work correctly before I buy one. They look the same, but the part numbers are different and I figure there must be some change to it to make them do that.

And yes, the welding of the pin would have worked great if I had caught it. Unfortunately, it just kept boring a hole right in the side of the case, and I did not know anything until the transmission siezed up (it sat for a month after a great ride) and all the parts inside were totalled. It may be able to be rebuilt, I just do not have the skills to do so. If you know anyone who does this work economically, I would appreciate input there a well.

Thanks!
