speedo problem

Default speedo problem

my speedo just stopped working on me yesterday and I don't knowwhere to start lokking for the problem... can someone help. beforeit stopped it stayed at 5 mph at idle

Most likely the speed sensor by the right front wheel.

What ATV do you have mabe the speedo cable broke. We have two SP500s one with wheel sensor the other with cable.

If your AWD also is not working then the speedo is shot,there the newer ones with a wheel sensor. A backwards improvement on Polaris's part.

Its a 02 sportsman 500ho. The awd works

4010298 is shot or the wire from it to your wheel is diconnected. $40.83 from this place. OEM motorcycle and ATV parts from Honda, Yamaha & Polaris – Cycle Parts Warehouse
Mine has not worked for 3 years to lazy to change it. Only your Hour meter will work without it.

Ya it must be the sensor... I took it off and tested it, it has to be touching metal to register
