I'm pretty sure the oil was right, I ran it for a good 20 hours when I was down there.

 

Polaris oil is synthetic 0w-40 if there is no dealership near you than Amsoil , Mobile1 and any other brand will work.

If you do not use the correct oil (0w-40) in the wet sump Fuji built motors do not expect to turn 8000 plus miles. Many blow up fijis out there with regular 10w-30 in them because Wall mart had a sale on Quaker state. Not sure if the Polaris twins are as fussy.

Polaris is pushing a new oil that is suppose to be 2w-50 ,there reason being no other brand of oil on earth makes a odd ball weight like that, so they think you will be stuck with buying OEM.

People must remember like spark plugs and tires,Polaris does not make oil they just tell you what weight is recommended.

Hmm Ive got a 425 with over 8000 miles has had Castrol Syntec 5w30 in it since new,use that oil in several machines never any problem, I service a 200 500 with over 10,000 has had that oil in it since around 2000, no problems, I will not buy Polaris oil, cause nobody can tell me who makes it, I bet they put it out for bid and the cheapest bid gets the contract

 

On cold starts the fuji wet sump motors want oil flowing,as soon as possible, since 0w- is the lowest cold viscosity weight oil made so the logic is thats the oil Polaris recommends or Fuji told them to use. 5W is not far off the mark so it would be my second option as well but 0W weight is made by many other oil brands if Polaris oil is not your thing or available.
