They also list for 5499 so most dealers will go 5000 and if you get 2 they should eat the over inflated shipping cost.
Great advice!

So here is the breakdown for what I was quoted for two, 2010 500 HO's, one with a plow and winch. I hope it doesn't get garbled when I post it.

Seems rather high when they add on the other crap. I also believe I've seen snowplows for $150-$200 new...does a winch normally cost $600? I will definitely negotiate the frieght charges, but are there any comments/suggestions on the other info?

Retail Price Sale Price
#1: Sportsman 500 HO $5999.00 $4999.00
Prep/Freight 499.00 499.00
Winch/Plow 905.00 815.00

Sub Total $7588.00 $6443.00
Sales Tax 531.16 451.01

#2: Sportsman 500 HO $5999.00 $4999.00

In My Honest Opinion...I would just buy the two machines. Negotiate the Prep/Freight at half that price or $250 each...and the same with the Doc Fee at $50 each.

I would then go to eBay and purchase 2 each 2500 lbs winches (brand is your choice)...and a Polaris plow. Do the install yourself (both kids and husband)...and have a GREAT set of machines.

Hope it works out for you...and Happy Holidays!

I agree 100% - I just picked up a Warn XT25 online for $290 shipped, so there are good Winch deals out there.

i agree, the sportsman 500 started the automatic independent suspension craze. nowadays they are still competetive and the best bargain out there!

I have had five SP500s and all were EXCELLENT. bEING 6' TALL, THE 300 MAY BE SMALL. aCCESSERIES LIKE GLOVES AND HELMETS ARE SOMETIMES EASY TO GET THROWN IN.

Well, I have to say you've all talked me into the 500's. If what you say is true, about being 6' tall, weedy, then that's definitely a consideration. I'm also so glad that everyone loves them. Hope they last a good long while.

I've sent back a counteroffer....$11,000 otd with taxes included (almost $800 for tax! Holy cow!). That'd be about 5K and some change for each. Really don't see how they could refuse, but I've been wrong before....not often, but it does happen. I've also sent out a quote request from the place I found the 300's at for the same thing...for both 2010 and 2011. We'll see!

My neighbors, God bless 'em, have volunteered to keep them in their garage until Christmas Day. Just have to get them there. SO excited! Keep your fingers crossed!

Any recommendations on helmets? Does an XL generally fit all men/big teens? Want to have them to ensure their safety.

Will let you all know what happened when it all falls out! Your advice has been GREATLY appreciated!

I would say xl helmets are average size for men.

If they wear hats just snag one and take it to the dealer and see if it fits somebody and ask what size helmet they have.
