choke stuck---2008 sp 400
i went out yesterday to start my 4-wheeler,it sets outside and it has been cold here,i live in wv. i haven't started it for about three weeks,i went to pull the choke out and it wouldn't come out,so i thought it was frozen,so i poured some hot water on the carb and the choke cable, well it came unstuck and started just fine,so i always heard that rubbing alcohol was the same thing as that stuff you buy to get the water out of your gas,so i thought my gas had some water in it and it was freezing that was what causing my choke to stick,so i poured about 4 or 5 ounces of rubbing alcohol in my gas tank which had about a gallon or so of gas in it,well i started it back up and let it finished warming up,i get ready to go for a little ride and gave it some gas and it quit,i started it back up,that's when i noticed it would idle just fine but when i gave it some gas it would just cut out, again it starts just fine just cain't give it any gas,by the way that was yesterday after it warmed up,havn't try it today yet. anybody have any ideas.....

it's definitely freezing,i can take a hair dryer to where the choke cable goes into the carb and around where the butterfly is for just a little bit and it starts working,i got the issue fixed where it wouldn't run if you gave it gas,i just banged around the carb with a screw driver for a few minutes while giving it gas and it started working, guess something got stuck,i took it on a 5 mile ride close to the house, seems to be doing alright.....got up this morning went out and checked my choke, stuck again, don't know exactly whats going on.........

I had a similiar issues a few winters back and what I did was to take a blow dryer to the cable to free it up and then keep adding cable lube. I lifted the rear of the machine to help the lube flow down the cable. The blow dryer helps to heat the lube and thin it down so it goes into the cable to help disperse some of the water. Also for me, I found that when I was done running the machine I would pull the cable out a little bit so if it froze I was still able to start the machine and when it was warm, it was easy to push the choke in.
