Default speedometer? scrambler 400

ok so my 98 scrambler 400 finally works (very fast, but maybe its cuz ive only ridden this quad) so at first i got the cdi off eBay which was a joke and didn't work so i went for the $340 dollar one from Polaris with a 200 dollar shop cost

but it works now so i'm happy but i'm wondering if i can put a speedometer on it, maybe magnets on the wheel and frame like on bikes?

and im missing the front cover that goes over the main board area but i have a piece of 1/4 inch plexiglass laying around so i was thinking of tracing it then making little tabs that stick out on the edges and just put it under the front ferring, any other ideas? besides buying the 120 dollar peice of plastic

you'd think that you would be able to find that piece on e-bay. think sport or trailblazer, it might have the headlight in it but...............
