Default 911 Help!!! Bearing Issue, Christmas Eve

02 700 Sportsman; I finally took my big mud tires off yesterday, and noticed on the rear left wheel there was a lot of play in the hub. Question, what could cause this? I'm assuming the bearing has gone bad. If so, are there bearings I could pick up at the local parts store? I know some parts can be cross referenced.

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Ditto on the Napa bearing. Bring the old one in to cross reference if needed. You hit the nail on the head asking why they went bad when you said "big mud tires". Running bigger tires will cause them to wear quicker but that's the price we pay for modding our machines and having fun:-) Check ebay for a spare set of front/rear bearings so you will have them on hand-cheapest prices I have found are there if you do a search.

Update: I went to Napa, closed on Christmas Eve. But I did find another bearing that would work, Federal Mogul #510013. Took me two hours just to get the hub out, which had seized in the bearing housing. Took me another hour and a half just to get the racer out. All in all good learning experience for me, anytime time you hear squeaking STOP THE DAMN ATV and check it out.
