burning oil
#11
I have seen some arctic cats atv with 12,000 miles on it and never used a drop.does your atv blow blue smoke out the exhaust when you rev up motor in neutral if it does oil is going by the rings. I would say if you burn a little oil it is ok. check the breather on motor is open also.

I haven't done a compression test on it yet but i will run it over to my buddy's place, it seems to run really well and it dosent seem to smoke at all.

Thats why i had to do a quickie oil change in the bush, noticed it was low and i know not to mix reg with synthetic so i changed the oil in the bush.
Im not too familiar with 4 stroke operation(used to my sleds) when they get up there in age is it normal for them to burn some oil?

I had a n 03 -700 , had 5600 miles on it when I sold it , never used a drop of oil, used Castrol Syntec 5-w30 in it since it was new, maybey it just doesnt like the oil your using. I have a 97 dodge ram with a 360, got around 100,000 miles on it and I decided to try the High Milage , synthetic blend. Valvoline, it used a quart in under 1000 miles , went back to regular valvoline , which is what its always had, has not used any more since
