Default Carb kit for 96 Xplorer 400

Hi, my carb is leaking gas if i don't shut off the fuel. i'm assuming its the needle valve?

Would it be worth getting a kit? or just buy the needle valve and washer.

I can't find a kit for the 96 xplorer 400...what other year/model has the same carb

thanks

Through Polaris parts are sold separately, probably just needle and seat plus I would replace bowl gasket.Through Kand L,Tucker Rocky,Parts Unlimited ,you can probably get aftermarket kits with jets,n/seat and all gaskets,o-rings for about the same price,if DEALER has accounts with the suppliers OR you can check on line yourself. OPT,

When you say needle and seat, do you mean needle valve and washer?

Also, i don't see a bowl gasket listed per say but the closest thing is see in the carb diagram is "packing float chamber", is this the carb gasket?

Thanks for all your help OPT!

Some like me call them needle and seats, actually under parts list its referred "needle valve assy" only has the needle and screw in seat or "valve" from Polaris. Doesn't come with the small fiber washer , washer is sold separately. Yes the "packing float chamber" is the carb bowl gasket. OPT

ftwflh, I see SledPartsGuy has a kit listed for a 94-95 and a 97-02 Xplorer 400 but nothing for a 1996. Are the carbs all the same in a 400?

Thanks

Needle valve assy (needle and seat) the same on all 400 2-strokes,but different models have different jet sizes which won't matter to you,UNLESS you want the kit with jets also. Old Polaris # 3130495 needle valve assy supercedes to #3131385 on 94 models and up. Should be the same for the aftermarket kits, really doesn't matter if they have the old or new style, will work, just screws in. OPT
