#1
i was servicing my scram 500 today, cleaning the clutches and checking things, and i noticed that the sheave that slides against the spider has deep grooves in it. has anyone else experianced this? the buttons on the spider are still fine. i cant believe that it wore the aluminum before the nylon

I have seen some of that in utility models where people don't use low range enough. You try to trail cows or go slow over tricky terrain while in high, and the belt is constantly slipping in and out of engagement, causing the grooves you described. There isn't a whole lot you can do that I know of, short of getting the pulley replaced. I would suggest that if it still performs OK to just keep running it. My dealer told me to always use low when puttering around, even if not pulling anything to avoid that. I don't know what to tell you if you have a Scrambler, with no low range. The clutch doesn't rattle, does it? As long as it seems tight, I would go with it, unless it is still under warranty, in which case I would have a mechanic look at it.

Yes mines exactly the same and my buds other two scrams too.It is just a wear part. I dont know if it will become a problem but so far it seems o.k I took light 600 sandpaper to mine because it seemed to hang the movement up a bit. It does have alot to do with on/off woods riding .Hi/Lo is the ultimate answer .Somone round here has installed the tranny off the 400 Explorer its the only Hi/Lo that fits the scram but its a couple of grand so I think I'll stick with the rough primary.
