Default 02 SP500 issues...4x quits and overheat light comes on.

Just like the title says...I'm thinking its gotta be electrical.

Was out playing for a good hour today, no issues whatsoever, went to go through the small mud hole right beside the house after and no 4x4, and just a second later the light came on, and no fan was running.

It did this last winter after just 10-15 min of ride time, but hadn't had troubles since until now.

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks!!

Check that radiator is clean front and back and fan can be checked with 12 volts directly. I believe on the 02 Sportsman there is a sealed 15 amp circuit breaker under the front cover towards the left rear. This could be shorting out? Plus check the two small awd connectors(gray and brown wires) under the panel and use a little electrical grease (nyogel) to help seal out moisture. Hope this helps you get started. If fan fails to come on and everthing checks out ok,then could be the radiator sensor needing replacement. OPT
