Default fan motor on 2004 Sportsman 500HO

How hard is it to replace the fan assembly on my 500 HO Sportsman? Do I have to remove the radiator?

Easy to replace, just remove the 4 screws around the fan assembly shroud, disconnect the harnees connector and slide out, radiator doesn't have to be moved! IS fan motor bad?did you test it? OPT

when the fan cuts on it makes a noise like the bearings are going out in it, a loud almost grinding sound

Yeah, I have seen them for about 80.00....the local dealer wanted 295.00 for the fan alone

My dealer wanted $320 (Canadian) for a fan, I found the exact same Spal brand new fan on E Bay for $65 on E Bay. What a Scam the dealers have going on those things.

My Cylmer Manual said to take of the front plastic ,bumper to change it. I did it in 20 min from the rear of the rad without touching either did not even take off a wheel. Just like they said to remove the clutches to change a starter, I do not know what there thinking when they printed that manual.

So basically I don't need to take anything off? Just get under there and take the screws off and remove the fan. The local dealer here is a huge rip off....they wanted nearly 400.00 to the job.

So he wanted $100 to do a 20 minute job, Nice. Even if my dealer did the job he charges $75 per hour and a mechanic should be fired if it took longer than a half hour.

Yeah, they are a huge ripoff...they wanted 200.00 to install a winch. I ended up doing it myself and it only took me an hour and I had no clue what I was doing but it works
