After-market Polaris starters?
#1
Soliciting any and all opinions on starters. Polaris thinks theirs are gold-plated, and they might be for all I know. But I can't help but wonder if there isn't the same quality available from a different manufacturer (Other than in China... Can't bring myself to buy Chinese unless there ain't nothing else. Too much bad luck with it)...?? Reviving a 1989 Big Boss 4x6 and while the recoil now works again, thinking electric might be nice to have working. Thanks to anyone who can help... - Doug

I have had good luck with aftermarket starters; regardless of where they are manufactured, they are less than half the price of a new Polaris starter. Here is a good link that I've had good luck with so far.........

Do they sell rebuild kits for it on ebay?
Had a bike starter I took to a shop. Cheaper than new (or rebuilt) but still failed. Finally just rebuilt it myself. Looks more intimidating than it really is. And much cheaper.

I would go after market on the starter! We kept both Polaris and after markets in stock on the starter and also the bendix (made in Brazil). We at least gave the customer the choice and sold a lot more after market than OEM! We at first had a generator shop rebuild some our old starters, but couldn't get em to last 6 months! A lot of after market parts we got were from Parts Unlimited and Tucker Rocky. OPT PS sounds like DB has some good prices, checked shipping,NOT bad!
