I think you're down to needing the stator resistance specs and I sure can't remember these for an 18 year old machine! At Repair Manuals.com you can get a Haynes or Clymer for 22 bucks! Should show the pulser (trigger coil) and the charge coil resistance readings.Unless like I posted earlier if someone on the forum has one that they could give you the info! Sorry I can't be of better help. OPT

All you need is just a 3 jawed puller(steering wheel puller) with long enough metric bolts to screw into the flywheel. You can find these at any auto or a lot of hardware stores. OPT

got a feeling i have one of those, perhaps maybe.
gonna have to do a pressure test first though as i got someone to use pullstart so i could feel,i could feel it popping on my thumb but felt little pressure.although the second part of the exhaust is not attached

Doesn't matter if exhaust is hooked up or not when you check compression. OPT

Just screw it in or push the rubber tip (if a universal tester) firmly in the hole while holding throttle open and pull recoil about 5 times. You'll see quick enough on the gauge what the compression is. OPT

YES there is supposed to be a head gasket! A service manual would really be of help to you! OPT

I remember buying a new 250 2x4 in 93. It was my second new Polaris.
