Default Water pump seal Sportsman 500 04'

Hello Guys, I have to do the water pump seal on my 04.5' Sportsman 500. Just wondering if I should do the oil seal that is behind it even if it doesn't appear to be leaking. It is $17.31 with tax so it is not a lot of money when your into it that deepbut just wanted to get others opinion. I am going to atempt to do this job myself to save at least $200 in labour. Just not sure how hard it is to put the mechanical seal in, I realize that you have to be careful not to break it when tapping it in. Also I see that some guys just use a socket to drive the seal in , instead of buying the special tool from Polaris , what are your ideas ?
Thanks for your time
Gord

Do you have the tool to take out the water pump seal?? Guys have done it without it,but if you bend the water pump shaft engine will have to be split! Installing seals are no problem,if you have a deep enough socket to cover the seal face and allow for the shaft to go through the socket opening and tap around the side. The oil seal you can use a screw long enough to get the seal and pull out,but you need to make sure the seal is installed back in right without damage again to the shaft! I'm just trying to save you MORE than 200 dollars if you aren't careful! I've had it happen to a couple guys that bent theirs and it ant no fun installing a new water pump shaft which also drives the oil pump. OPT
