I am wondering why Polaris came out with a 2004.5 instead of just waiting for the 2005 model year? Were they having some significant troubles with something in the 2004s that they had to come out with a new 1/2 model year? Thanks in advance.

 

Main problem were the ecm recalls which affected the 2005 models also on the carb models. And also affected some later machines also even out of the recall range. OPT

 

I though the biggest reason they came out with the 04.5 was they came out with fuel injection half way through the year. Thats what I was told when I bought my 700 EFI, my uncle still has his 04.5 500 and hasn't had any problems with it.

 

i think the half year is also when they chnaged fornt the hub style to the central style hillard in the front end awd system.

 

Later part of the 2004 model year the 700 efi did come out,but the 500 efi came out in 2006. The only problems were on the carb versions only as ALL had the Chinese ecms. Recall originally started out only on 2005 models,then were expanded to models before and I even had problems on the later models that were not on the ecm recall list. OPT
