2011 Polaris Sportsman 500 drive belt upgade?
#1
Can I use a larger Polaris drive belt on my Sportsman 500? For example an 800 belt for my 500? Is there a better, more rugged belt on the market? Thanks! MTG

Belts are all made the same tuffnest and process, there just different do to there length dimensions not width or thickness or material
A Dayco Max belt is made for a 18hp 250 Ski-doo Tundra and for 800 170hp Ski-doo Mach-Z . Same goes with ATV Belts.
The Belt on my 500ATV would work no problem on my 120hp Polaris XC700 if the thing was the right length.
I got 2000 miles of hard riding and towing out of my belt and it still looked fine, the trick is to use low range on the slow tuff going sections.

The belt I just took off my 08 500 HO had 5000 miles on it and it still looked good . The belt I replaced it with has 2800 miles on it ( the original belt ) . These belts last forever I'd say there pretty rugged . What you after a 20,000 mile belt ? I carry my 3rd belt for a spare it has over 3000 miles on it .

And there only $70 and take 20 minutes to change, so I do it every 2000 miles need it or not. Kinda like a spark plug I do not wait for it to fail before I change it.
