Default Clutching for newbies

Hi,

Just bought a scrammy 500 and want to start adding a bit of go fast to it. This is the first automatic quad I've ever owned. Can someone point me in the right direction to learn the basics on these clutches. Is there a list some where that says what color spring does what? It has a blue spring in it now and on the small bolts that hold the primary on someone has added washers for spacing it looks like? Why would that be done?

i would guess that the washers is to change the engaugement rpm's. if you contact the guy selling the polaris parts in the sticky thread he can tell you alll about what clutch springs and weights to use for the best results for the scrambler.

Looks like they uses a blue and a red spring. Aaen Performance - Polaris ATV 500

They have 5 stage kits the last one brings the 500 to 47 HP @ 6800 RPM and Max torque is 38.3 Ft/Lbs @ 5600 RPM. This represents a 25% increase over stock.
