scrambler gear grind

Exclamation scrambler gear grind

hey guys
i have a 05 scrambler 500... issue is the gear change... when changing the gear in to either D or R it will grind the gears.
how do we go about adjusting the clutch?

its the secondary clutch....
it does not spread open when in gear....
how do we adjust this?

springs and weights are the culprit here... disassembly for inspection is most likely your best course of action

we have done all of that.. seemed in fine condition to me...
once i stop the secondary from spinning it will shift into gear without grinds.... it spins too fast by itself.... it has to slow down...

idle is really low.

Sounds to me like the primary isn't releasing all the way, so the belt and secondary are still spinning at idle.

The shift lever has two lingage rods that go to the tranny with adjusters on both ends. you can fool with them to get it smoother.

let the ATV idle down and when shifting and give it a quick jerk on the shift lever, not a slow pull or push of the lever.

ya thats what we have been doing (the quick shift) its less of a grind but i still cringe when it grinds.
it would be nice to have this issue solved

i have no experience with new engine braking clutches. but what i hear is the piece that is supposed to spin in the bottom of the primary drive clutch is sticking. allowing the belt to move turning the sec.
