Help with Hawkeye hesitation above half throttle
Hello All,
(I've searched for and read through all the pertinent threads on Hawkeye fuel issues. If there is one that someone feels needs to be looked at please let me know.)
The Cause: My kid was running it a while back and caught a small tree just to the inside of the left front tire. The machine spun a quarter turn counter clockwise and tipped to the right ending up coming to rest on its right side. It was on its side for probably 30 minutes before I got to it and tipped it back.
The Result: It starts up normally but any throttle beyond half and it starts to bog (under load or in neutral). This machine has been running great with the exception of needing lots of choke and a long warm up in the winter. It tops out in the mid-forties.
What I've checked:
- The oil smelled a little gassy so that got changed.
- The air filter looks fine and the airbox appears to be intact.
- I changed the in-line fuel filter as it was due but there was no change in performance.
- An investigation around the carb didn't uncover anything obvious
- Spark plug is new within the last few months.
Questions:
- What would a sudden impact have an affect on that would cause this symptom?
- I'm assuming it's a fuel issue, should I be looking somewhere else?
- If I need to get into the carb, what should I be looking for? I've never taken one apart but this is as good a time as any to learn.
The machine is a 2007 with about 1,300 miles.
Thanks!!

Alright, here comes the confession - I've never taken a carb apart before... Any suggestions on how to go about this?
