Specta.....Grim Reapers are the tires I've got my eye on. I still have my stock 489's on my X2 and in need after 3200 miles. Trying to decide between 6 or 8 ply. Let us know soon how you like them as I'm going for a 4 day ride in the Mojave Desert come the 22nd.....and some radial tires are on the menu......Thanx

I like this attaching point too, looks good for a tow hook.
I have no idea what it's intended purpose is or was.

I use that as a tie down when trailering as well as when getting winched out. One time I doubled back my winch line when pulling a big log out of the pond and a ****** block. All has held up so far.

I have to tell you... I am enjoying this thread more than any I can remember. Possibly because it is about testing a Polaris Touring. I haven't found many threads on 2-ups..

I have a 2009 Polaris Sportsman 800 Touring and could not have posted any more truth's about these machines. This is my first Polaris and first 2-up. I have had several Yamaha Grizzly's over the years, so it has been exciting to see that someone else has the same views on the unique features of the Polaris. (i.e. the AWD system, override button, and ADC)

Things that I love about my machine.. EFI, auto locking front diff, and the stability. Did I mention the stability? (What a game changer!) I rode on several atv's since and felt how much more stability that I have with the Touring. It is going to be hard going back. The added feeling of safety is amazing!

One question I have for you is regarding the tires. I have the factory 25" 489's and would like to get something more aggressive, yet good on trails, and in the snow. Do you have any recommendations what would be better than my factory setup? I really am liking what you are saying about the BD's, but saw that you said they aren't as good as others in the snow.

Keep up the good work!

Anything, anything and anything! The tire topic is very touchy and subjective but one thing I think all will agree on is that OEM tires are pretty much junk for anything other than basic trail riding.
One thing I would suggest to help you decide is to find out what others in your area ride on. For the most part that will give you some direction as to which tire the majority feel is the best for your local terrain.
The depth of your wallet may be the other factor you have to deal with. There are tires out there that cost as much as the tires on your truck you haul the atv around with.
Good luck in your search and use the wheel and tire sections in various ATV forums to help you get more information on the different tires available.

I am between a few tires. The three I am looking at are the Interco Swamp Lites, the STI Black Diamonds, and Maxxis Zillas. I am looking forward to the reviews of the Grim Reapers too...

I have a feeling of how the BD's do on my quad my size from this video. Anyone know how the others do on a heavy Polaris Touring?

I had 28" zillas on my canam outty 800- not a big fan.
I also had swamp lites on my other outty 800- liked them a lot-.
no experience with the BD.
I also had 27" 489's on my renegade 800- hated them.

I hear a lot of good things about Swamp Lites and would like to try them out.
I like the Grim Reapers so far but I am questioning their lateral traction.
I am more than impressed with the Black Diamonds.
