Yep. EBS is only rear wheels, ADC all four under the conditions you talked about. It is kind of an odd setup in my mind. More of an afterthought than a dedicated system. It seems to me that they did it as an add on to EBS more than it being a fulltime system.

These Dirt Commanders seem to be a fairly aggressive tire and do well in the snow. Their sibling Grim Reapers were too.

This trail is fairly steep (not "steep") and the snow is wet, heavy and is some places about 12" deep. I'm in low range and in a couple places near the top I'm working it pretty hard.

the very last section is steep

This is a very complex machine for an ATV and I thought the trans in my Rubicon was complex. Everything needs to meet several criterias before it works.

The ADC would be an awesome set up if it worked at all speeds rather than just when the throttle is closed. It would be nice to be able to come down a steep loose hill at 5 mph with the throttle slightly open and not have the rear wheels lock up and slide.

If I need to come down a hill that slow I can always use the "brake" but I seldom need so much engine braking that it brings me to a crawl.

"That's just... that's illegal, I'm sure it is!" Hahaha, I thought that was funny.

Just bring bolt cutters for that gate problem. No lock/chain....no problem.

I rode over to Dougs this evening and picked up another set of tires.

I picked up my set of Black Diamond XTRs on the HD2 wheels.

Now that the trail conditions are changing I want to ride them again to see if they are really as good as I thought.

I have 65 miles on the Dirt Commanders and when I hit 100 they're coming off and the XTRs are going back on.

I was looking at the wheels and tires and Doug said "you were pretty hard on those weren't you?"

I rode these tires hard, harder than any of the others. They like it. What can I say?

Okay, now that you've had the true 4wd for a good bit can you tell the difference? Are you getting that little bit beyond where you could go with the 3.5 wheel drive limited slip Honda or about the same? Just curious.

all wheel drive is more aggressive - no question

However I wish when I selected 4-wd it stayed in 4-wd.

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9MmT8OOBws

Coming down a hill like this when I let off the throttle the rear wheels lock up and slide.

If the "On-Demand" 4-wd stayed engaged the entire time 4-wd was selected the rear wheels wouldn't lock up.

I wish it was "My-Demand" 4-wd and not the machines.
