I've noticed a crunching or grinding type noise when I shift my quad. Kinda like a manual trans car if you shift without the clutch being fully engaged. I'm wondering if I'm shifting too hard or what? Or, is the clicking sound a sign that the quad is actually going into gear?

I mean, if i don't use some force when I shift the quad will actually clip outta gear. For instance if I use a soft pull on the shifter to go in rev, it might slip back into neutral.

Am I just paranoid or is what's happening normal?

The grinding is because your engine is reving to high. After starting it in neutral wait til it idels utill you shift. Or just start it in gear.

Also if you pull the break lever in It should go into gear smoothly no matter how high it revs. At least thats how it works on my scrambler.

Okay thanks. I'll try both. Especially the brake lever issue. I know that i don't shif/change unless the quad is at a complete stop, but I'm sure I pay special attention to what I'm doing with the brake lever.
