Front Hub Oil 99 xplorer 400
#11
I have been using synthetic motor oil in the hubs for years on ALL of mine and ALL of my customer's and not a single problem. In fact the hubs work better with it than with the Polaris fluid.
Same in the trans. I have never had to go into a Polaris trans because of wear on one that I use the Castrol Syntec 5w50 in.
Many have been going for years. I know for a fact it helps the chains in the trans last longer than the Polaris trans fluid.

The hubs I run synthetic oil in stay clean. The parts stay like new. There are no issues of the hubs failing to stay locked in and no issues of them not locking in.
There are ZERO issues of them locking in on their own while the machine is in 2wd.
Unlike the Polaris fluid and regular motor oil a good synthetic motor oil does not "thicken up" in the hubs.
Now back to the trans oil. Until I started using Castrol Syntec 5w50 in the trans of all the ones I service I used to replace the trans chains on a regular basis.
I have seen the 250 trail boss chains wore completly out just as the machine is out of warranty. A new chain and the good synthetic motor oil in the trans and the same machine is ridden for years with no problems.
It is my opinion almost all the Polaris fluids are second rate compared to others especially the engine oil.
If my fluids did not perform better I would not use them. I can buy the Polaris crap just as easy as I can the rest.
