sportsman 500 cam
#1
I have a 1999 sportsman 500 that started running bad pulled cover and the cam is bad . does anyone know if all the sportsman 500 cam are the same or what years would be. would like to go back with a ho cam, thanks

If I remember correctly, a popular upgrade was using the HO cam from either a Scrambler or the HO 500 Sportsman, so it should work fine.

These cams fail because of poor quality or broken down oil. If you insist on using the Polaris crap change it at least every 40 hours.
Use a good quality synthetic oil and change it when you should and you will never have this problem again.

Some may disagree but I use Castrol Syntec 5w50. Amsoil should be even better but it is harder to find in my area.
Mobile One is also good. In fact most any good quality synthetic motor oil that you can find at Walmart or auto parts stores is as good and most of the time better than Polaris oil.
