96 sportsman wont start
i was warming up my 96 sportsman 4x4 it was slugish due to the cold as usual once it started to idle regular it died an now it wont start i have spark and the compresion is just over 120psi new br8es plug its seems to be getting fuel an the starter is trying but it wont turn over im stumped as to what to check i cleared a mouse nest out of the air intake for the belt (from the previous owner storing it in the shed with no door) but other than that ive found nothing wrong i did find a dipstick under the carb thats showing barely any oil on it where should it be on that dipstick

Has the battery been on a maintainer? If not, cold weather can cause one to discharge pretty fast!If an older battery you may need to have it load tested and replace if bad. If its been setting up may need to go into the carb and clean the jets, plus fresh fuel. The counter balancer takes 75cc's of either 30 wt or any good multi weight oil. OPT

thanks again opt. the battery was last on the charger about a week ago but it says it was purchased in 08 so it could probably be getting bad im gonna try and clean the carb an see what i get when i took the tank an seat off to check compresion it looks like the uper radiator hose busted at some point an sprayed the whole side of the motor with antifreze and no one bothered to clean it up so everything on the right side is covered with oily dust thanks again for the help
