Tired of tires going flat?

tire slime for atvs works well or you could always put a tube in it. we use either a heavy soap or grease to seal our tires in our shops for truck and otr tires which works well.

As I had said, I did not want to start a debate or for that matter create a soap box for some, but eh what can i say? I will just add that I do my own stuff including changing tires if that's what needs to be done. When I do change a tire, I am **** about cleaning the ream, cleaning the bead and putting sealant. The fact that I don't do trails, just hard work and hunting with my machine is probably a good reason why i constantly have leaky tires. Much easier to spin a tire on the rim that way and get a leak than when touring on atv trails.
The best one ever heard on this forum is 'coolant kills cats'... Atv's also kill cats, and an other multitude of vertebrates and invertebrates; probably more by atv's riden in the wild but also by atv's on manicured trails. Oops what was that? Lets all sell our killing machines!
Anyhow, It is entirely up to each person on this forum to have his own opinion. I just reported this to try to help. It did solve the problem for me and I hope that the few careful enough not to poison the cat will give it a try. Much cheaper than have to take the wheels to the garage as in the case for most.

antifreeze has no effect on sealing any hole in any rubber- and is not used for lubing the bead, or preventing oxidation.
The only time you want to lube the bead is when the tire is slipping on the rim- the "bead lube" then dissapates into the rubber- you don't want to have a "lubed" bead once the tire is seated- you want a stuck bead. Bead cement is used to seal a leaky tire bead- not lube.
Antifreeze in slime is used as a, well... antifreeze! if the tire slime freezes in the winter, you'll have a terrible wobble caused by a block of ice stuck to the inside of your tire. That's the only reason antifreeze is found in tire sealer.
most aluminum rims are sealed to prevent oxidation- and, most quality aluminum is treated with boric acid & carbon (then sealed) to prevent oxidation- otherwise, every car with an aluminum rim would have a leaky tire.

I was a diesel mechanic for many years- changed a lot of tires- never once saw or heard of someone putting coolant in their tire to prevent flats- That would've pissed me off having to clean that mess up!
I'm amazed on how these rumors start.

Well, I've never tried the coolant thing myself but that's what I've heard, I still know that on my 04 and 09 vibes you have to scuff the rims up every couple years or you need to get the air compressor out every morning and there is nothing wrong with the tires.

I don't know if this trick has ever been put on this forum in the past, but here is an alternative to using Slime in tires leaking air. Out of 4 tires, 3 of mine were bleeding air; one was so bad that it would sit on the rim within 24 hours. I had purchased a can of Slime but was reluctant to use it because I had read here it would make a mess inside the tires.
I read on a French hunting site about a guy putting coolant fluid in the tires to stop the air leakage. The recipe called for approx a cup of coolant by tire and to give the ATV a ride to disperse it inside the tires. Some people tried it and claimed it worked.
I gave it a try and it has been a week and no more leak. Thank you ATV gods! Not evident to hook the compressor in the morning at -20 celsius!
