Default Stranded ATV

What if you alone were or another were on your one ATV and it broke down a good ways in the outback and you only bought minimal gear for your ATV adventure.

What could you do to strip off your ATV to survive?

Some gas in the main tank, a few bottled waters and packaged snacks, multi- tool knife and only the clothes and coat on your back and shoes on your feet.

Regards,

If someone knew you were out and when you should be returning it'd be best to stay put. Sooner or later someone would come looking for you. Have a fire ready with some green wood if possible to make the fire smoke. Easier to spot you that way.

Thoughts: Use the battery to start a fire or power a headlight to signal. Wiring for chording for snairs or lashing things together. Another headlight to use as a daylight signal flasher or broken glass for cutting tool, brake rotor used as a cutting tool. Seat cover and some wire to make a pack to carry things or to keep the sun off your head. Seat foam used as a cushion sit on the rocks or hard ground. Cushion also used in the cold as a hat to keep head and ears warm. Gas in the tank for signal fires and to hold water when gas runs out. Oil or grease could be soaked into seat foam to make black signal smoke. Dry fender storage for water storage. On board tools for whatever the need. Cut tires into strips to burn for signals. Metal footwell supports as digging tools. Winch cable as rope. Gas line as a straw to sip water, rubber sheeting catch under gas tank for catching water. Windshield or body plastic as a drag sled for gear and for shelter. Airbox and intake tubes to catch bugs or water.

Where we live here in the mountains of western Arkansas, people can and do get lost and parish in the wild. We never go out with out letting a family member or friend know, exactly where we are going and when we plan on being back, so that they can send out a rescue party should we not show up. I carry a good first aid kit, three gallons of clean drinking water, purification tablets, a fire starter kit, a compass, a large hunting knife and a .40 caliber pistol with me each and every time we go out in the mountains. Our plan is to stay with the atv, on the trail and wait for the help we know will be on the way by morning.

That's why I never go out with minimal gear/supplies. Never know what could happen and how long before you are found!

When I think about what I want to be doing when I die, cutting up and burning my KQ is at the bottom of my list!
