Default New Eagle front mount plow bent already. pics...

Third time I have used my Eagle Gen 2 front mount plow and I bent it. Caught the corner on a curb at about 5mph. It didnt trip the blade, but broke one of the spring bolts used to unhook the blade, bent the front mount bracket, and tweeked something up front on the atv structure.

I can see where the bracket failed, but have not yet located the problem with the tweeked front end. I didnt realize what the top half of the bracket mounts too until I just tore the machine apart. The front bumper tube section doesnt seem like it a good place for the mount plate to be attached to.

I dont know how other plow man. mount up but, this doesnt seem to be a strong setup..

I am thinking I should have gone with a center mount.

Ouch.... My Cycle Country is a center mount and the mount is rock solid, but I bent the ears on the plow. I just fabbed up some new ears out of some scrap steel I had thats about twice as thick as the original and welded them on to the plow frame. Only thing I don't like about the center mount is that the plow can only raise about a foot off the ground.

Man, that stinks. Should have tripped the springs long before that much damage was done. I would see if you can get softer springs so it trips easier than the ones that came with the plow.

Yeah that's too bad, that shouldn't happen that easily.

I have the glacier 3 center mount on my new 850 and last weekend I hit a frozen lump of dirt in my yard so hard that I almost went over the bars and there was no damage what so ever.

The blade will trip forward when i hit cracks in the concrete fairly easy. I had the blade turned to the right and caught the right corner on the curb when I bent it. maybee the impact angle was too diagonal to trip the springs? The top of the springs hook to an adjustable eye bolt, so I could loosen it up a bit

I may try to straighten and reinforce the mount. Or I can buy a new one for $95

I also had a glacier setup on my polaris- I'd tear up frozen rocks on a dirt road and never bend anything.

come to think of it- I had an eagle plow setup on my outty 800 and destroyed the plow pushtube when I hit a tree root plowing the edges of the drive way- had to use the torches to get it straight again.
