Default Troubleshooting Polaris Sportsman 500 HO

Ok folks....I'm having trouble with my 4-wheeler.

It is shifting hard out of first gear. It's just first gear....the others seems to be working fine.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong????

Just had the belt and "drive belt pins" replaced....

Any help would be wonderful!!!!

first welcome to the forum. 2nd the sportsman is not a standard(firsst gear?) so trying to figure out are refering to when it's running and your in low range, high range and it doesn't want to come out of gear or maybe it's grinding? more info on what it's doing would be great. mean while you can make sure the idle is not set too high and the linkage is lubed so it's not catching. let us know.

Default Ok...more info

When it is in high or low range, it gets up to 6200rpm and shifts again....it comes out of gear just fine.

As for the grinding, its R'd up too high to hear it. So I'm not really sure.

Idle is fine. What linkage are you talking about?

Thanks.

1st gear? High, low and reverse is all it should have. The only adjustments are on the two linkage rods the go from the tranny to the shift leaver. One is for reverse the other is for High and Low foward.

I fooled with them once to get the ATV into foward more smoothly because it would pop out into neutral sometimes and grind to much to get it into forward gear. It fixed it up though.

What do you mean it"shifts again" at 6200 rpm? Are you shifting while the atv is moving??? OPT

i guess what we all are saying, sense this is an automatic atv there is no shifting. your bike should go up through the rpm band while gaining speed or movement smoothy. ther is a slight shift out or back shift when throttling up while already moving. by any chance is maybe the belt slipping while going and it reves high rmps but not gaining instead only reving? sounds like maybe that is the issue, but thats just a guess.
