Stuck with a wiring problem on my 2006 Sportsman 700
#1
Help....As I said on another thread, I am slowly working though all the issues on the 06 Sportsman 700 (carb) I bought from my father in law, and tryiing to fix all the "rigs" he had on it, and there were MANY, Last hurdle is replacing the key switch, The bozo he had working on it told him the keyswitch was bad and proceeded to remove the wires out of the connector without labeling anything, something that didn't need to be done anyway. I bought a new switch from the dealer ( $77.00!!) and the service manual, but when I connect the switch the way I interpret the diagram in the manual I purchased the display comes on on the speedo even with the key off, and theres no signal to the solenoid in the crank position..somethings not right. ..I have 6 loose wires,-- 2 orange, 2 red/black, one white/red and one red/white. and 6 pins on the new switch... seems simple enough...However the manual only shows the switch with 4 pins, and 6 wires somehow connecting. If anyone has a harness laying around or a similar quad they could take a look at, I would greatly appreciate it...a photo would be great too. If need be, I'll even PM you my VIN so you'll know there's nothing "fishy" going on....At present my only alternatives are taking the whole quad to the Polaris dealer 90 miles away, or buying a new harness.... I'd GREATLY appreciate any help!
