Then you need to beg, borrow,or steal a fuel pressure tester to see if it could be a pump problem. Supposed to hold steady at 39 psi + or - 3 psi. Plus have you ever replaced the fuel filter at the front of the atv? OPT

No OPT, never changed the fuel filter. Will the gauge show true pressure without the machine running? I figure as long as the battery is fully charged it should show an accurate measurement.

Will look into changing the filter. Is it like an automotive filter? I know the one on my pickup requires a special tool to pop the clips to disconnect it. Or is it like a basic small engine filter with hose clamps?

Fuel pressure is checked with just the key turned on to activate the fuel pump.Depending on the type of tester you have, you may have to "bleed" off any air/fuel into a container, then reset gauge to get an accurate pressure reading. Look at "fuel tank" on your 800 and you will see where the fuel filter is located and the quick disconnects. Doesn't take a special tool, just good fingers to squeeze the clip together and then push/lightly pry out to unlock. http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp
