Default front brakes

My son has a 05 polaris predator 90 and it has no front brakes. When you pull the right brake it goes all the way down, it has no resistance. I am unfamiliar with brake work, so can anyone give me any advice?

Front brakes shoes on the little ones never had a great deal of stopping power, but you can try turning out the two adjusters on the brake lever control to take up any slack. I don't believe there are adjusters on the brake cable at the wheels, but there might be. If there are, take up equal amount of slack on the wheels first, then the handle bar adjusters and see if you have brakes then. If not,it might be time for some new brake shoes. OPT

Default cables

Ok, I think I figured it out. The brake cables were sticking really bad. I sprayed some PB blaster down them and worked them loose. Now my question is how free moving should the cables be? They will move back and forth back you have to pull on them with a little strength, you cant just pull it with two fingers.

That's why I said they didn't have the best stopping power even when new! With the front end jacked up, loosen the round adjuster lock nuts and turn the handle bar adjusters out equally until you feel resistance on the wheels from the brake shoes grabbing. Then just turn the adjusters in a little equally until the tires turn freely and then tighten the lock nuts. This should give you a little more stopping power with less effort, but make sure the rear brake is in good working order as it stops the atv better! OPT
