Default 05 Sportsman 500 with electrical issue?

Tried going riding the other nite and the quad died. Had no power to key, so we made a jumper and got the quad running again worked all nite. Couple nites later went to go out and no power at all bat dead. Charged it and jumped it had it running for 1 hr drove it some and it was working. Went to leave for the ride and it died as soon as i gave it throttle, jumped it same thing multiple times, and the whole time the fan was running and flashing hot. So i got a new battery put it in, key off the fan runs constantly, start it still runs and flashes hot. First time it fired off instantly, any other time it clicks a few times befor starter will go, but it starts and runs fine. Brand new starter in it. I omhed out the thermistor and wires they are fine, its charging fine. With the new battery there is no issues with power getting to the key anymore but the fan and hot light are staying on. I had this happen befor and i think i had to replace the sure power box, but not 100% if that was it tho. All connections are clean and greased, all wires check out good. Anyone have thoughts befor a start throwing expensive parts at it?
Thanks Rob

Did it have this "ECM" brain box recall done? If that thing acts up all sorts of strange things happen.

Sounds like it might be time for a fourth! I've had to put three ecms on before on the same machine,so it's possible another Sure Power ecm has failed. Some on the forum on on their fourth ecm. Controls mainly the fan circuit and charging, and if the fan is constantly on,then this could be the problem. Have heard of people pulling covers off new ecms and sealing with either dielectric grease or silicone. Don't know if it helps or not. ALSO could be a bad thermal sensor on the cylinder shorting out. You might want to check resistance when cold and when hot to see if resistance does change. OPT

I did check the thermistor at room temp and after running for a bit and it ohms out fine. Looks like ill try a new ecm then.

Yea its a pain in the *** when something works and they have to change it because some yuppie epa pencil pusher says its no good for cali anymore, so lets make it harder for everyone else.

They basically did away with the separate regulator /rectifier,radiator thermal sensor for the fan motor and also separate thermal circuit breakers (which worked fine) just to pack it all in a small square finned module. First mistake is they relied on the Chinese to build them, then when they failed, found out that they couldn't build em any better in the US. I had a stack of ecms under warranty(Chinese and US made) that I kept to be returned like most other warranty parts and Polaris said just to chunk em in the trash, they didn't need em Just my worth.
