Hello all. I have an 01 scrammy 50 for my son. Its been great and has all sorts of stuff done to it like oil block off, k&n, hotseat pipe etc. Last fall it just died. It would run then it would bog down and cut off. I thought it was the carb so I replaced it over the winter. I don't have anything now. The spark is barely noticeable. I'm talking So weak I thought it may have be static when I got it to ground out. Would that be the coil? or the Stator causing this to happen? Thanks guys. And any testing help would be appreciated.

90 percent of the ignition problems I had were because of the stators on the 2001 models. Mainly because they allowed too much dirt and mud and water into the stator area. You can try to clean up the inside of the flywheel and pick up coil and see if that solves it. If not ohm out the ignition coil primary (coil tab to ground) 0.2-0.3 ohms if reads shorted to ground replace coil. Plug wire with cap on to coil tab (secondary) 8.0-9.3 k ohms, without cap on 3.0-4.2 k ohms. Stator black wire to white/red 450 ohms, then black to blk/red 800 ohms. If these two wire checks are off more than 20 % replace the stator. This is what the pdf manual I have calls for on the 2001 model. OPT

I didn't get to try your tests as of yet. I just saw the post. I just came in from outside and I pulled the flywheel. WOW, It was packed full of dry dirt. I wiped out the flywheel and I scuffed up each spot on the stator with some fine sandpaper. I slid the flywheel back on and I still didn't get any spark.
I need to go out and grab a meter and do the tests that you just posted for me. Hopefully they will show something.

Go with the Polaris oem stator as I've had some posters using after market ones that have had problems.
#0451000 is the Polaris # and $158 at Cycle Parts Warehouse. You can use this number as a reference if you want to take a chance on an after market one that would probably be cheaper. OPT

I found the part number you listed however it says that its for a 03 or newer 90. I called a dealer and they said the crank is different so the hole in it is incorrect. I would think the 90 on would still work anyway. The crank should be thicker if anything and it should slip over the 50 crank with no issues. Any opinion OPT? the part number They gave me was 0450998. They had a killer deal on the number you had. If it will work please let me know and I'll get it from them anyway.

I tested the coil again. from the tab where the white red is to coil ground/ chassis it cont continuety. So the coil is bad?
Still wonder whats going on with the OEM stator. wonder if something is wrong from the factory?
