Default 08 800 touring battery indicator and chassis fuse melting

I have a 800 sportsman touring and just the other night i turned the headlights on and lost everything. I changed the fuse because the old fuse wasnt blown but melted and the plastic on the new fuse is starting to bubble from the heat. Also when i turn my headlights on it stalls sometimes and the battery light is flashing sometimes and wont go off even at 3500 rpms. Not sure where to begin.

Welcome! First thing I would check is that the battery connections are tight plus all the frame grounds. Plus you might want to pull the fuse block up and look underneath to make sure no wires have come loose and touching any other wire or the frame. Have had this happen before. Plus is the battery fairly new to eliminate it as a problem? OPT
