i got it back yesterday they put a new needle valve, plug-trap, nut-wells, and screws but it doesn't seem much better. when i hold it wide open it just takes a while for it to rev up, the power isn't there quick. i took it back this morning, he said maybe a clutch problem but idk if it is. i hope they figure it out soon.

Dealer or individual shop should have tested the atv before he released it! Hopefully it's narrowed down to a clutch problem. OPT

it needs a new cam and rocker arms, the cam alone is $300 what should i do sell the thing? its $1000-$1500 for the dealer to do it.

Mentioned about checking the cam in my first post to you. Yes this was a problem on the early models until the 2001 models. Usually the cam and exhaust rocker arm is what is damaged. If you can do it yourself can save some $. Not that hard to replace especially if you have a manual to help guide you. Basically just get at tdc, remove the cam chain tensioner, sprocket plate on right side of head, cam cover on left side(must remove thermostat cover and clamp off hose to remove the cam cover) remove the cam blocks, slide out the old cam and replace with the new cam. Then install cam sprocket and chain and tensioner. A manual can guide you. Up to you,but most dealers should charge between 3 to 4 hrs labor + parts. $1500 is way too much for parts and labor!! Check around. OPT

Since 94 when the 425 and then the 500 came out I've never seen a cam cause what you state in your posts. Especially if it will do 55-60 mph. Most cam issues(exhaust lobe worn off) caused backfiring through the airbox but idled fine. Do like OPT said and get a second opinion somewhere else. Sounds like clutch issue.

Waaaaay tooooo much money for cam job also!
