warn is the most popular and of high quality, but even the knok-offs like viper makes a pretty decent winch.
any winch over 2500 will work fine.

unless you're strong enough to lift a 600 - 900 lb atv out of a mud hole, or ride on nothing but dry grassy fields- every 4x4 atv should have a winch

As said above, Warn 2500 would be a good choice. Also, Viper, and Superwinch make good winches that are less than Warn. I would also invest in a ****** block pulley for if you are going out in really deep mud or snow. It essentially doubles your winches pulling capacity and puts less strain on the winch.

Buddy has one of these that works fine. Cabela's: Cabela's Trail Tamer™ Extreme 2500 ATV Winch by Warn® - 2500 lbs.

This is a great deal! http://www.cabelas.com/product/Barga...3Bcat105778980

Amazon has the Superwinch 3000lb for about $125 I think. I had it on my last quad, worked great. Have a Warn 2500 now on my 500 and works great too. If you are mounting this on your brand new Polaris, get the Warn. Shop around. Amazon has some good prices. Good luck.
