Default Do I need to break in a new cam?

My new camshaft should arrive this weekend, i'm just wondering, do i need to break in a new cam? if so, how do i do it?

There is a 10 or 20 hour break-in. Manual goes over it pretty good. Can't remember all the details. One is that you aren't supposed to pin the throttle during the break-in.

pin the throttle, just dont do it suddenly and dont hold it there long. ride it normal

is it like breaking in an engine rebuild, do i need to vary my rpms up and down?

yes id say so. run it like you're breaking in a brand new engine. go slow, fast etc, just dont keep it full throttle for long periods

I've heard so many different break in methods I couldn't say for sure.

Ride it like you stole it.

Run it hard for 20 minutes, let it cool down, then do it again.

No high rpms for the first few hours.

Did you just slide a new cam in, or did you replace more parts than that?

I think breaking in a cam only would be a lot different than breaking in an entirely new motor.

Diid they give you the High duration H.O Cam Part# 3085855?

These guys sell them for $244 and rocker for $67 how much did the dealer charge?

i didn't get the cam yet, it should be here in a few days. i just want to know what to do when i get it in. i also got new rocker arms and the works. When i put the cam in i set the valve clearances, but after a few hours of breaking it in, do i need to set the valve clearances again or should it be ok?
