60" plow on a sportsman
#11
I put a 60 inch eagle plow on my 2006 sportsman 450 this year and it totally impressed the heck out of me. I have a 350 foot driveway half of it is 20 degree incline and friends said it couldnt be done. Our first storm this year dumped over 16 inches and i blasted through it no problem at all. I used to have a plow on my truck for this driveway but sold the truck and didnt wanna spend 5k on a new plow. 400 bucks for the atv plow, yeh it takes longer but its allot more fun. Takes me about half hour to 45 min to do my driveway and I push far into the yard. I weigh 180 pounds and dont use any weights on the machine. I do have HD springs on the front though. Dont cut the blade! A 500 will push it without hesitation. buy it, you will love it. Oh yeh and I have half worn out original crappy stock carlise tires on it. Cant wait for the reptiles to come in

I would get a good set of tire chains and put some weight back there. The problem isn't usually power if you've got a machine that has low range. It's usually losing the traction needed to push the snow.

This may sounds repetitive but a 60 is a great choice as long as you have the traction very good ideas try sand bags. we had a 09 850 xp with a 60 inch and no weight on it and plows like a champ. hope to here how it works good luck to you and congrats on the baby.

Having spent the night plowing my drive and our street, 60" is perfect.
Definitely wouldn't want a 48" blade.
Traction was never a problem, pushing 6-8 inches of soaking wet snow.
I now need to adapt a small metal plate for the synthetic rope to run over at thr front fender.
