1996 polaris xpress atv cuts off after about 45 mins.

I recently bought a 1996 polaris 2wd atv that had been sitting for approximately a year. I had the carburetor cleaned and tuned and several other things that needed repairing ie. brakes- cooling fan- tires. When i got it back from the shop it ran great for about 45 mins and then cut off and would not restart. After repeated attempts i finally got it to start later that evening only to have it do the same thing almost exactly the next day (45 mins of riding and shutting down). Is it fuel delivery? electrical? heating issue? We are at wits end- any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Cold be time for a new top end? On the old 2 strokes check the compression first. If below 120 psi, could be the cylinder is expanding when hot and the piston rings lose their seal against the cylinder wall and will just die.Usually they will crank back up when the engine has cooled down. Plus pull the plug cap and just stick in a spare plug grounded to the cylinder to see if you still have spark when it dies on you. OPT
